OLSPACE’s Journey, From re:publica to Maker-in-Residency

OLSPACE is thrilled to share our recent experiences and accomplishments. We had the incredible opportunity to participate in re:publica in Berlin, Germany, facilitated by Global Innovation Gathering (GiG). This event allowed us to connect with innovators and experts, gaining valuable insights and building meaningful connections.

We are also proud to announce that our founder, Leonard Shayo, was selected for the Maker-in-Residency program, facilitated by the mAkE African European Maker Innovation Ecosystem and GiG. During this program, Leonard worked on our flagship project, MapinduziSat-1, at FabLab Barcelona. This experience provided access to cutting-edge tools and collaboration with European experts, helping to refine the CubeSat’s design and functionality.

MapinduziSat-1, an educational CubeSat, aims to study Earth's magnetic field and environmental conditions, inspiring students and hobbyists in Tanzania and Africa. The project has received positive feedback, and we are excited about its potential to drive STEM engagement in our region.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to GiG, the mAkE African European Maker Innovation Ecosystem, and the FabLab Barcelona team for their support. This journey marks the beginning of our mission to advance space science in Tanzania, and we look forward to continuing this exciting endeavor.
